To Walk with the Invisible

Keiko Takahashi

This Year, Which Door Do You Push Open Anew?

Happy new year.

The beginning of a new year will always come around each year without fail. It is natural and it is a matter of course that the end of the year comes and a new year begins as time passes by. Despite such repetition, the beginning of the year continues to provide us with a sense of new opening
and presage.

The year 2018—the time of the year still exists in the future and has not yet arrived. What kind of shape are we about to give to the Chaos1 of the time that is the new year?

We need a new challenge for a new year. Because, from the beginning, our life is an adventure of the soul.

Our life is too precious to be wasted by living this year in the same way as we did last year. We should start something new, even if it is only one thing, rather than repeat the same patterns of previous years.

I would like you to ask yourself the following:
“This year, which door am I going to push open anew?”

I would like you to keep this in mind and to take the path of a new challenge at all times.

To Walk with the Invisible

On the other hand, there are things that do not alter at all even after the change of the year. This is what I would like you to think about this month.

We human beings, without exception, live in this phenomenal world where shapes and weight exist. To live in such a world means that we leave behind various traces of living there.

We create new shapes, bring about changes in our reality, accumulate numbers, and so on. We value social status and wealth, and our interest is focused on shapes, numbers, and visible accomplishments. This is because we live in this phenomenal world.

However, visible realities such as shapes and numbers, are deeply connected to what is invisible that does not appear in visible realities. The visible is born from the invisible.

We cherish the fact that there is a connection between the visible and the invisible. And, this is the way of life that will be lived based on the Study of the Soul2—the path of the Divine Truth.

We not only live in the dimension of visible realities or realities with shapes, but also live together with the invisible. This is none other than the way of life that we, who aspire to live by the Study of the Soul, should acquire as our base and our main premise.

First and foremost, our mind and soul can be called the invisible. Various feelings, thoughts, aspirations, blueprints, and visions that are born from our mind and soul can also be called the invisible.

Other examples of the invisible are exchanges of sentiments between people, the atmosphere, the energy that flows in a place, mood of the era, the ideals that we advocate, missions that we find in our life, and the values and connections that people share.

It is not an overstatement to say that what determines the quality of our life is how we feel, discover, perceive, nurture, and communicate with the invisible.

Open the Path Out of the Melting Pot of the Past, Present, and Future

Through functions of the mind, such as sense, emotion, thinking, and will, we sense the world and situation and contemplate them in many ways. In this way we connect with the dimension of the invisible. We perceive aspirations, blueprints3, and vision which are born from the dimension of the soul that is in the depth of our mind, and we repeat a dialogue with our minds.

There are flows from the past and from the future, which stir within our inner realm or our inner world. These are the experiences and memories of the past, as well as premonitions and visions of the future. Can you vividly feel the vortex they create?

There exists the past, present, and future, in the world of the invisible. They collide with one another so that they can create something new.

And, because it is a melting pot of the past, present, and future, we can open up the best possible path from there. This itself is a true joy for us to walk with the invisible.

Editor’s Note

1. Chaos

In the Study of the Soul, a state that has not yet produced a result is referred to as Chaos. Chaos includes possibilities and limitations, and factors of light and factors of darkness. Factors of light are clues or elements that lead a reality to harmony, development, or deepening. Factors of darkness are triggers or elements that lead a reality to confusion, stagnation, or destruction. We interact with this Chaos with our mind and actions and give a shape to it. Once we have given a shape to Chaos by touching it, the Chaos will never return to the original state. That is why it is decisively important with what kind of mind we interact with Chaos.

2. The Study of the Soul

It is the perspective that grasps our lives from the dimension of the soul. It also refers to the system of the truth, the Divine Truth, that permeates every aspect of the human soul and the world. As opposed to the “study of phenomena” that is directed at the tangible world, the Study of the Soul is an investigation of all things, including the formless and intangible world. (excerpted and summarized from page 3 of The Reason Why You Were Born as You)

3. Blueprint

There is a blueprint for everything. When we wish to accomplish something, we must first remember the fact that a blueprint exists—an image of what should be there from the start. This means there are answers to be sought in all cases and ways to access them. Putting it in other words, there is always a best possible path to take in any situation.
